Vectorworks Architect provides Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities that offer a true increase in productivity. With BIM, your 2D drawings, 3D drawings, and project data are linked into a simple, yet flexible design environment. Changes made in one view are updated in all others.
Unlike other BIM programs, Vectorworks Architect does not limit you to a certain workflow. You can easily work in 2D using your existing CAD standards, design in 3D with free-form surface and solids modeling tools, or merge 2D and 3D in Vectorworks hybrid design.
And, with support for IFCs, your BIM projects can be easily moved downstream to others involved in the building process.
An Urban Commercial Development Proposal
29,350 gross square meters (316,000 gross square feet)
The D.C. Riverside Office Building is a low-rise commercial building design. In addition to demonstrating Vectorworks Architect's BIM best practices, the project explores the use of the Level of Development (LOD) modeling guidelines as defined by the American Institute of Architects Contract Document E202-2008 BIM Protocol Exhibit and the use of openBIM technology and workflows for interoperability between architectural, structural and HVAC design and modeling applications. OpenBIM is the use of open international standards for the exchange of BIM data, specifically the use of IFC2x3 file format. The IFC files were used to exchange and coordinate important model information between Vectorworks Architect (architecture), Scia Engineer (structure), and DDS-CAD MEP (HVAC).
